The problem under discussion

Currently, Britain’s army is committed in two major theatres of operations: Iraq and Afghanistan. Whilst the expertise and commitment of British soldiers has been exemplary a capability gap is severely handicapping their operational effectiveness. For the purposes of discussion perhaps it is appropriate to divide problems into two categories.
1) Equipment
2) Doctrinal (organisation, strategy and tactics)
